Sure I'll email you.

I was worried when I started with the GoT series that it would turn out like Rome, or Blood & Sand, which I just found unwatchably self-aware and attention-seeking with the amounts of OTT sex and violence - not that I have a problem with those things per se, but those shows were so just like 'LOOK, THIS IS A GROWN-UP SHOW! SO MUCH SEX AND VIOLENCE! THIS MUST BE REALLY AUTHENTIC!'. GoT seemed to just about avoid that, I mean it's still pretty in-your-face about it, but the stuff that's there is at least there for some kind of reason. However, it is more explicit than the book (as far as I've read), so there is still an element of attention-grabbing I think. And unfortunately from what I've heard about the second season, it does start to slip further and further down that route of gratuity...

Unfortunately I've encountered quite a huge spoiler about the first book/season as well, but at least it's only about the first one...

I JUST REMEMBERED can you send me your address?! I don't know when we'll meet up next and I want to give you your contrib copies of F+C!
In terms of ASOIAF, I'm taking the possibly odd route of watching a series, and then reading the corresponding book, haha! I think the series stands out in places the book is weak, and vice versa. It's been really interesting reading/watching them together.

I'm about halfway through the first book - saw the first two episodes and decided to read it first rather than watch the rest of the series, so far I prefer the book. I spotted Ned pretty easily there, thought the top-right might be either Jaime or Joffrey (the latter looks different in the book), didn't spot the bottom two I'm afraid.
